CasaVino Coming Sept. 18

The proceeds of the 9th annual CasaBrewsake event, which was held on June 5 at the CasaBlanca Resort, were given to four local charities.

The Salvation Army Food Bank, Heide’s Cottage, Virgin Valley High School and Charles A. Hughes Middle School Reading Program were the beneficiaries of this year’s donation.

The money raised from this event totaled $12,441.

Donations raised over the years from CasaBrewsake, in conjunction with the annual CasaVino, total over $240,000.

According to Black Gaming, the CasaBlanca Resort, along with Southern Wine and Spirits, will continue to sponsor and host these annual events to benefit the local charities.

The 2010 donation total will increase with the upcoming 12th annual CasaVino, set to be held on September 18 at the CasaBlanca Resort.

WOW I was always told that the Salvation Army and Black had a connection from way back since some lady donated Hedi's cottage to the Salvation Army and a close friend of Randy Black. Now, that the proceeds have been divided out will someone please explain the differnce between Salvation Army Food Bank, and Hedi Cottage all the same, you have to go to the Cottage to get food that hasnt already spoiled. So in reality The Salvation Army got together one half of all the money and the schools divided the other half. Something in this picture doesn't hang right on the wall. I really think there needs to be some investigation into this, THE SALVATION ARMY IS A CHURCH, "WHERE IS IT" AND WHERE OR WHERE IS ALL THE MONEY IT GETS THROUGH "FAITH BASED HELP FEDERAL MONEY GOES AND WHO IS INCHARGE OF THIS NATIONAL ORGANIZATION AND CHURCH, REALLY SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

WHILE IT WAS GREAT TO SEE "George Rapson" signature on a recent tribute to former Fire Chief Derek Hughes on these pages, I -- for one -- still miss "his unique behind-the-scenes" TOUCHES at the former Black Gaming empire in town! ALSO MISSED = Having a chance to 'carry bags' FOR GEORGE et al from the tarmac to a classic BURT RUTAN "BEECH Starship" airplane at the airport - part of the fleet from a former Black Gaming empire based @ the North LV Airport, when he & his family would travel out-of-town on business! "CasaVino" still endures as one of George Rapson's legacies, happily!
