The Cub Scouts of packs 42 and 82, along with their families, enjoyed a fun filled evening at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet.
The banquet was held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Littlefield L.D.S. church.
Everyone was welcome to complete a Cub Scout Quiz as they arrived at the church with answers posted around the room.
The quiz included questions about the history of scouting.
One person, Cheyenne Martin, got 100% of the answers correct.
She excitedly received a toy top filled with gum, since tops were a popular toy 100 years ago.
The awards and recognition for the Cub Scouts were creatively stowed in a five tier birthday cake made of boxes.
All Cub Scouts received a button toy in recognition of the 100 year anniversary of scouting.
Many of the Cub Scouts had it figured out and enjoyed playing with this old fashioned toy.
Each den of Cub Scouts was excited to perform for their families as the Wolves presented the opening ceremony, the Bears sang a song, and the Webelos shared jokes.
Several Cub Scouts received awards including Jeron Dalton, who received his third yellow bead; Janson Sherman got another silver arrow point; and new addition to Cub Scouts, Josue Zepeda received his Wolf handbook, neckerchief and slide.
Gi Wooten earned his Wolf badge and his gold and one silver arrow point.
He was also welcomed into the Bear den by receiving his new handbook, neckerchief, and slide.
Another Cub Scout joining the Bear ranks was Lane Ramos, who received one last Wolf silver arrow point before beginning his Bear journey.
Dakota McDonald has reached the ripe old age of 10 and joined the Webelos as he received his gold arrow point at the end of his Bear adventures.
Webelos scout D.J. Wooten received his Fitness and Scholar Activity Badges, putting him well on his way to earning the Webelos emblem.
Jaden Dalton recently completed the Artist requirements and received the activity badge for that achievement.
Jaiden Juan was happy to receive his Webelos colors so that he can display his future activity badges.
The primary presidents, Lindsay Frei and Nichole Burnside, recognized all of the Cub Scout leaders with a clever gift including a York peppermint patty and a measuring tape for the men and measuring cups and spoons for the ladies.
This note was attached to the leader gifts: “Thank you for YORKommitment to the Scouts! It’s hard to 'measure' what you mean to us!”
The Cub Scout leaders in attendance included Cubmaster Tom King, Webelos leader Terry Taylor, Bear leaders Nadine Peterson and Jackie Young, and Wolf leaders Andres Ramos and Beth King.
A colorful and delicious birthday cake was served to all in attendance as a grand way to celebrate 100 years of scouting.
