Man Hit By Vehicle On I-15
Posting Date: 12-02-2009

By Morris Workman

A 19-year-old Las Vegas man was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by an SUV on I-15.

Jack Phillip Coleman was struck by a 2000 Jeep Cherokee around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26.

The vehicle was driven by 21-year-old Gerardo Santiesteban-Valles of Avondale, Ariz.

The incident occurred in the passing lane on the northbound side of the interstate near exit 120, according to a spokesman from the Nevada Highway Patrol.

"The pedestrian was walking west across the highway when he was struck in lane one," reported NHP trooper Alan Davidson.

He went on to mention that the driver of the vehicle indicated that Coleman was alone when he was hit.

NHP confirmed that Coleman was seen on videotape earlier in the evening at a casino in Mesquite.

Davidson said that investigators are awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

The incident is still under investigation.

Thanks for the heads-up. We listed the correct date, but the wrong day. For that, I apologize. It has been corrected. As for the man living in Mesquite, I had heard that as well, but the Nevada Highway Patrol, the official record, says that his permanent residence was in Las Vegas.

wow this is so sad. he went to our school VVHS, the day before he died, i was talking to him in the office at the school. He was showing me his rap music he had created that him and his made together. He told me, "I cant wait til me and my friend become famous." He was a very talented kid who can rap out of no where. I cant believe hes gone.
