In her 25 years of booking comedy talent at venues throughout the nation, Pat Wilson has certainly learned how to properly place the right talent.

And in Bruce Baum and Vic Dunlop, the owner of Pat Wilson Comedy West has undoubtedly hit a home run by bringing the duo to the 500-seat CasaBlanca Showroom.

Baum and Dunlop are back in free 7 p.m. performances at the Casa Blanca Saturday, Oct. 24.

On Oct. 31, the showroom will welcome Barry Diamond along with Chris Zapatier and Marc Yaffee.

Wilson will bring more comedy personalities to the CasaBlanca Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Based on a capacity crowd in the opening show Oct. 10, it’s easy to see why future shows are expected to sell out.

“Comedy is a great form of entertainment especially during tough economic times,” analyzed Wilson, whose busy schedule finds her at homes in Seattle, Wash., and New Orleans.

“In particular, people need an escape and that’s precisely what is provided by both Bruce and Vic during their performances at the CasaBlanca.”

News about the return of comedy to the CasaBlanca has spread rapidly and Wilson said she is now receiving constant email correspondence from other comedians who want to perform at the Mesquite venue.

The fact that Dunlop and Baum proved a quick success has been big news to the rest of the comedy world.

“People are starting to travel more,” explained Wilson, “and because of that, we have already noticed that the audience at the CasaBlanca includes a wide array of fans from Nevada, Arizona and Utah. The CasaBlanca is an awesome property and the following has really been rewarding.”

Wilson added that yet another key element to the first show at the CasaBlanca is that both Dunlop and Baum provide clean performances free of vulgarity.

“In each case, they make people laugh because their comedy is based on real-life experiences,” explained Wilson. “People appreciate clean comedy, and that’s exactly what they find with Vic and Bruce.”

Wilson said Dunlop is quirky and is able to quickly connect with his audience. With Baum, whose character has been featured in the popular TV show The Simpsons, the combination is perfectly-fit for the CasaBlanca.

Baum is the co-author of the three best-selling “Letters From A Nut” books written under the pseudonym of Ted L. Nancy with forwards by Jerry Seinfeld.

He is also the creator of the comedy web-destination TheOutNet.com and has had numerous appearances on Hollywood Squares, Full House, Growing Pains, Comedy Center, HBO and/or Showtime.

Dunlop, who was born in New York City before moving to California when he was two, is a multi-faceted individual whose career has included working as a regular performer on The Richard Pryor Show.

His talent was eventually taken to the Barbara Eden sitcom, Harper Valley PTA.

Dunlop also performs in Las Vegas where he has opened for Tom Jones, the Righteous Brothers, Gladys Knight, the Four Tops and The Temptations.
