The proceeds from this year's CasaVino event at the CasaBlanca Resort were distributed to local organizations recently.

Two charities and two schools received checks totaling more than $10,000 from the event, which was held on Sept. 12.


In a presentation ceremony held on Sept. 29, checks were given to the Salvation Army Food Bank, Heide's Cottage, and the Virgin Valley Student Support Organization.


The Salvation Army Food bank and Heide's Cottage each received $2,585. Salvation Army exec Charlotte Alsman accepted the checks on behalf of the two charities.


The Student Support Organization, which benefits both the Virgin Valley High School and the Charles A. Hughes Middle School, received $5,170. banner


David Wilson, principal of the Virgin Valley High School, accepted the check for the two schools.
